The installation shares a research and grieving process around my great-grandmother, who passed away in 2015 after nearly ten years of suffering from Alzheimer’s. Playing with the idea of memory, death, and repetition, this work engages with the sensory motifs brought up in interviews to different family members, weaving a collective recollection of who she was/is/will be. The strawberries and the knitted yarn materialize the pass of time in the gallery, standing in as a symbol for familiar associations as well as for mortality and the ephemeral nature of remembrance.
