The Blue Dot

Single-channel video essay (19’09”) that has also been shown as a three-channel video installation, which reflects on the blue dot as a real time signal of users’ interaction with digital servers, as well as a metaphor for the internet as an aquatic technology. I began this research and creation project in 2016 while living in San Francisco. Using original and appropriated material, this video essay weaves a story between the Internet Archive, the ocean, Silicon Valley, the library of Alexandria, and astronomic images in order to address the poetic and material entanglement between technology, water cycles, and the production of knowledge.
