Coral Heart ~ Coral Choir
As a fellow at the Panel on Planetary Thinking in Giessen (Germany), I developed an artistic and pedagogical research process focused on coral ecologies and embodied relations with water. This included a three-day wet workshop and an audiovisual installation exploring coral reef regeneration, and microplastics through the voice of María Antonieta López, a Venezuelan marine biologist at the Ocean2100 aquarium of the Justus Liebig University. The sound of the video is a mix of recordings at the aquarium with a custom-made hydrophone and an electromagnetic sensor.
The video installation was activated through a live performance where I played live sounds with a hydrophone into a fish tank with water from the aquarium and a custom-made Ocean Harp, an instrument made with recycled metal and filled with water. The installation and performance proposed an immersive journey into coral polyphony, deep-sea extractive infrastructures and reef regeneration.

Coral Heart guided meditation at the Museo del Mar (Sea Museum) in the University Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Bogotá, organized by the Line of Art, Science and Technology of IDARTES. Pictures by Felipe Portilla. This meditation was also presented at the Parque Explora Aquarium in Medellín, in an event with artist Jorge Barco and marine biologist Paula Zapata.
